Healthy Gums, Strong Foundation
Periodontal Dentistry
Our dentists treat gum disease at every stage — from early gingivitis through to advanced periodontitis — using minimally invasive techniques to preserve your natural teeth and bone.

Periodontics is the branch of dentistry focused on the health of the gums, bone, and supporting tissues that hold your teeth in place. Left untreated, gum disease is a leading cause of tooth loss and has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, and other systemic conditions.
Our goal is to catch periodontal problems early and treat them with the least invasive approach that restores stable, healthy gums.
What is Gum Disease?
Gum disease begins as gingivitis — red, swollen, or bleeding gums caused by plaque buildup along the gum line. At this stage it is reversible with professional cleaning and good home care.
If left untreated, gingivitis progresses to periodontitis. Bacteria move below the gum line and form pockets that destroy the bone and connective tissue anchoring your teeth. Treatment becomes more involved at this stage but remains highly effective when started in time.
Signs You May Need Periodontal Care
Our Treatments
Scaling & Root Planing
Non-surgical
Deep cleaning below the gum line to remove plaque, tartar, and bacterial toxins. The root surface is smoothed so gums can reattach. Typically completed in one or two visits under local anaesthesia.
Open Flap Debridement
Minor surgical
For deeper pockets where flapless cleaning cannot reach. The gum is gently lifted to expose the root, cleaned thoroughly, and sutured back into place. Faster healing than traditional flap surgery.
Supportive Maintenance
Every 3–4 months
After active treatment, more frequent professional cleanings keep bacteria under control and prevent recurrence. Most patients transition from 6-monthly to 3–4-monthly maintenance intervals.
Our Approach
We believe in conservative, evidence-based periodontal care. Most gum disease can be managed without surgery when caught early — our dentists plan the least invasive treatment that delivers a stable, healthy result.
For patients with complex medical histories, such as diabetes or heart conditions, we coordinate closely with your physician and adapt treatment to your needs.
Aftercare and Long-term Health
Periodontal treatment is most successful when paired with consistent home care — brushing twice daily with correct technique, flossing or using interdental brushes, and attending your maintenance visits on schedule.
Healthy gums protect more than your teeth. Research continues to link gum disease to heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and pregnancy complications, making periodontal care a lifetime investment in your overall health.
